Ash Bow for my Brother-in-law (Pictures)
« on: September 16, 2007, 10:05:32 pm »
Here are some pictures of an ash bow I finished recently for my brother-in-law.  This is my 4th bow and the one I am most proud of.  This bow has one big knot in the upper limb and another small knot in the upper limb.  The lower limb has 2 knots also so I would consider it a character bow.  I really slowed down on the tillering on this bow and ended up with only 3/4 of an inch of string follow on this bow (I also used a tillering tree).  The bow is 70 inches ntn and pulls 55 lbs. @ 28 inches.  It is very smooth to draw and has no hand shock.  I made this bow 70 inches long to help account for the knots in it.

I gave it to my brother-in-law today and he loved it.  It was hard to part with, but now I can start working on another.

Enjoy,

Mike

Great lookin bow Mike! Those are some major nots in that thing - I've been wondering if you could get away with them in white wood bows, looks like ya can. Brother in law aught to be proud.
