New Knife
« on: July 27, 2012, 02:48:45 pm »
I'm just getting into bow making, but I have been building knives for quite a while. Here's one I just finished for a friend. It's a drop point hunter design. The blade is just under 4" long, 1" wide, and 3/16" thick with a deep hollow grind. The knife is 8 5/8" long.  It is ATS-34 SS blade with Desert Ironwood burl for the handle. Mosaic Pins and nickel silver guard.

Thanks For Looking
Dennis

Sweet blade!  Knife making is one more hobby that I've always wanted to dive into.  I've made a couple, but nothing even close to yours.

Did you make the sheath too?  If I can make a suggestion on the leather tooling - you may want to try making a cut with a swivel knife along the edge of where the textured part in the middle meets the un-tooled part.  It will give a sharper, straighter border between the two.  But still, that's really nice work!
