Lowering Bow Weight Question?
« on: June 29, 2012, 03:54:20 pm »
I've got a Buddy who's son made him a replica Black Widow recurve 55-60# @ 28".

My ol' Buddy is having a little trouble getting this back and would like to lower the bow weight.  It is fiberglass backed.  Any way of doing this?  Thanks fellas, dpg

bt, in the old days around here (Bear/grayling) the fellas would edge sand a thinner profile on the limbs.  Not the thickness, mind you, but the limb width. But hey what do I know....somebody will chime in I'm shure.

like rich said side tiller with sandpaper, bub
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

You can also trap the belly to remove weight.  That's about the only thing you can do on a glass longbow.  Recurves are a little wider so you can remove width.

Thanks guys.  We were thinking the edge/side sanding would probably be the way, but I wanted to ask some pros too.  thanks again, dpg
