Wanted to introduce myself , My name is Steve Brooks from Flowery Branch Ga , near the North Georgia mountains . I'm 45 years old and my kids are getting old enough that I'm no longer the most interesting man in the world , so I have extra time on my hands . Apparently I was born with to many Why Chromosomes because I have always had to know why or how something worked . Archery is on the list of things to investigate . I did a few months of research and about a month ago started shaving curls off a maple board . The design I chose probable won't qualify as primitive , when I discover "Primitive Archer" I was already committed . While I still want to build a recurve bow , the idea of building a bow from a stave I harvested myself , strung by a string I twisted and using it to shoot an arrow head I knapped , into the shoulder of a big North Georgia buck , makes archery a way to connect with my ancestors and the effort it takes seem a little more respectful , to the deer , then just slamming a steel razor blade into his body with a store bought fiberglass pulley driven killing machine . I guess I'm sounding a little corny but in today's society it seems that if it isn't easy it's not worth doing and , what we learned in the past is out dated and not worth knowing . It's nice to find a forum where there is value in doing it yourself and the old ways are still respected . I look forward to getting to know all of you .
