Stuff and services to trade.
« on: May 26, 2012, 03:09:29 am »
Im looking for knowledge and bowyers near me. A well as a decent beginners bow stave or books. I am a painter, and I hang drywall and come with references. I braid and weave a pretty decent rockman sling to as well as slings woven from para cord. Im in the Galveston TX. area PM if interested. If you want to swap stuff let me know what you are looking for. Thanks much.

O Gus....this young man needs some help.  I wish I were closer, but I'm up in Dallas.  Hopefully Gus can get with you.  Not sure who else is down your way, I know there are a couple more at least.  If you feel like a road trip up this way I will for sure send you home with a stave.  Good luck.

I'd like to see a picture or two of your weaving, even if it isn't done with primitive cordage.

Sorry been off the PC for a few daze... :)

badcolesonbad, I'm in Houston up on the West side of town.
If you get up this way we'll have to get together and talk about bows and may be make some shavings...
I should be able to get an Osage Stave into your hands and get you lined up in the right direction.

Welcome Aboard Primitive Archer!

Im in the South East. I can defiantly connect up, and even bring a hand full of slings made of non offencive materials. I only make them from para cord because I can bang them out fast, and kids love them. Working on pictures.

Sterling is in Victoria, also.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

This one is made of sisal. I gave it away, but I can do another in no time. Sisal makes an awesome sling.

Those are really slick.  I'm thinking a flemish splice bowstring will be no problem for you. :)

Cool sling! Those are some real skills you got!
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

And they are dead easy to make. You only need twine and some time.

Good Looking Weapon indeed...

And some very Nice string work.
That is one facet of the Primitive Arts in which I've yet to dip a toe.
But I need to!

I will warn you, it is addictive. The upside of that though is that its cheap. I got 1,500' of sisal for $15.00. And you would be surprised how good you can get with practice. Ill have to show you one day.
