thanks noel..im gonna work on trying to get her back to full draw...if i cant ill consider it finding a new home ;)

thanks gun doc..lol  im sorry to hear im not your friend anymore :'(   ;D

thanks okie...yeah i would be lying to say this doesnt scare me  :D

thanks guy..lol  ;)...ill bring it to marshall and shoot it standing next to you...i  dont think your ole legs could run away fast enough ;)

thanks rob..yeah ill let ya yank on it...but ive given yo fair warning...discretion is advised ;)  ;D

thanks del...the stave did have 3/4" of deflex to start with ,and atfer i unstrung it,it had 2" of follow...not bad considering the width ,length, and weight...yew rocks...now i know why you blokes like building these mostrosities with it. and i went full compass tiller because of its shorter length. ill keep exercising and trying to get her back...i wanna shoot this thing at its full potential so bad.

thanks pappy...sure ya dont wanna give her a whirl? ill take it to the classic for you to try ;)

pearl...glad i could stir up some fire in yewr belly  ;)

Blackhawk, I just cut some yew from a house my son just bought here in Pa. I am not sure what I can do with it. The larger staves have a very low ring count, the smaller ones are better but still not what is considered good. What is your ring count like? I always hear elevation with yew, these I cut were around 2000 feet.

Your bow looks great.

Bob...this stuff was cut a mile from my house here, and the ring count on this one was about 35 rings per inch. some of the other staves i harvested were a lil lower around 25. but if i can get a full on deep n narrow elb(and on the short side) warbow out of it im sure you could make anything you could pull draw weight wise. my little experience with yew(this being my first yew bow) thinks that ring count isnt as finnicky as some folks make it out to be,unless you were going for super high weights..but im never going there. thanks for the kind words ;)

thanks for the great compliment eric ;)...i could stare at that full draw all day 8)

That's a beauty for sure Blackhawk!  Can't wait to see her finished AND that full draw pic!    Maybe take a few sniffs of ammonia salts just before lift-off like the powerlifters do lol :o

Really nice bow, impressive weight for such a short bow. How long did it take you to tiller, did you follow any set of dimensions for the bow or just tried to get the most from the stave.

Awesome looking bow.  I also didn't know you had yew out your way.  Love the arc to the tiller.  I could send you some horn tips if you want to do the horn nocks on it eventually.  We have piles of them around here ;)

Looking forward to seeing some pictures of actual people drawing the bow  >:D

thanks k hat...not sure it will be anytime soon for a full draw...at least from me. i worked on pulling it a lil bit again tonight, and let my buddy rob try,and he couldnt get it back either >:D..now i dont feel so bad ;D

thanks monative...no staining yew...its already naturally beautiful wood with the sapwood and heartwood contrast

thanks bernal....maybe horn nocks...i dont know? i need to be able to pull it back first

thanks toomany...im in pennsylvania...it was from a big tree i got some staves from that was planted here loooong ago next to where there used to be an old farm house.

thanks ian...not sure how long it took me to tiller,i long stringed it one eve, then heat corrected it weds night, then finished it off thur eve. ....i didnt really follow any "set" dimensions,i took what the stave could give me. i think when i laid it out and faceted it,i tried using some similar dimensions to one of dels bows he posted with his widths and depths at several points along the bow. the stave didnt allow me the same width and is only 1 1/4",because this came from about a 2 1/2" dia branch top of a trunk.

thanks gaur....sure ill take some horn nocks if ya got em....as long as it isnt to costly to ship....how bout some horn bow belly cores too ;)...ill send ya a pm....im hoping either myself or finding someone to draw this thing for a real full draw.
