morning good folk-
didnt know if this or the flint knapping area was best-
hopefully many of yall read both and im not a knapper so...
so often i see these lovely stone or steel knives with antler handles
and i have yet to figure out how you guys get that antler looking so nice
dark sometimes and polished up with out removing the character of the antler...
tips?
thanks!

I've made a couple knives(steel). Never bothered to mess with the antler in terms of a finish. I always just leave it the way I find it.

Sadie, I do like everybody else. But I have taken old, oxidized horn that has been in the weather a long time and sanded it down smooth. It looks really nice after you buff it out with a nice polish job.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Saturated solution of mostly baking soda and little water will brighten up antler.
