bone points and a cupla new arrows

working with primitive materials over the years has given me much insight and a great deal of respect for my ancestors.
when they got frustrated or something wasnt going their way that day,
they couldnt just run to the workbench and grab a roll of artificial sinew and call it good.

a cupla bone points whittled from cow bones from the butcher

the arrows made with them
red osier shoot shafts,
a mix of real and artificial sinew,
wild turkey feathers,
and a touch of pine pitch here and there.
i may end up cutting the feathers down quite a bit.
like the looks of em like this, but as we all know,
traditionally they woulda been cut quite short.

Very cool arrows Sadie. Look like good trade items!  ;)
  I've been taking my "primitive" fletchings down a little lately too. My normal burn is about 3/4" at the tallest point but in some cases I shortened to 1/2" or even less. My fletching is about 5 1/2" long anyway with a slightly offset straight fletch.

Great looking arrows and points.  For the record I'd leave the fletchings just as they are, so long as they fly well.

Nice points.  Cow bone is pretty soft compared to Deer though. 

My grandmother was a farmer and raised beef cattle and butchered her own cows.  She wouldn't lend her bone saw to anyone wanting to butcher Deer with it saying that it was too hard on the blade.
