Back to the basics
« on: November 04, 2011, 07:25:17 pm »
I was finishing a point out of semi-translucent Alibates the other day,& I broke it because I was not careful. Sooo I grabbed a handful of debitage & brushed up on my notching. This is how I do it & what it looks like when I'm done. Hope it can be useful to someone.

I'd say you were a notching wizard. Seeing the tool is one thing, seeing how you use it would be even better. I know.... we are never satisfied. Actually, I am, but if you ever decide to do a video, I am sure it would be watched closely by many. Thanks for sharing, that is some kind of notching!!!!

ok i am gonna have to get/make me of those.  i am just using a ishi stick.  It works preatty good but i am gonna get a hand pad and that tool for knotching.  I do agree with Steven a video would be amazing to see.  But nothing is better than sitting down and watching someone do what the do best.

I will give it a try.  I have busy weekend that weekend.  Between my mom and my wifes mom and dad.  Not to mention all the food coma.  That and i sure would hate to mess up someones hunting.  I will talk to him and see what he has to say.

Hey Tower -
Pretty stuff - awesome job notching. Stuff you are practicing on is what I make points out of.  Anyhew... what you want to trade for the pieces of your practice notching? I got some obsidian - soapstone, I can finish up an obsidian knife..... hmmm....
I do like them and I can do something with them.

Ben, If you want them you can have them.  I'll chunk em anyway.  No need to compensate for them.
