My first of many!
« on: October 26, 2011, 01:06:06 am »
This bow I have been working on throughout the year.... I have had to overcome many obsticals with this bow...ie, a small hairline crack in the back. Uneven fade because I didn't know what I was doing, chiping a tip when the bow slipped off the tiller board. You name it I have had it happen... I just remembered this sight and have been on tradgang and you can see the entire thread on this bow and the issues at hand. The bow is 66 inches tip to tip and is at 57# at 26 inches... I wanted a 60# bow at 27 inches for my draw length.... The tiller is not perfect but I got to shoot it tonight with the light from my truck lighting up my deer target... Three shots in I smacked the deer in the heart. Such an amazing feeling flinging my first cedar arrow that I made with my first true stick and string... Its not perfect but I shall shoot for a perfect bow the next time... Even Gary Davis said in his video he hasn't made a perfect bow. I think he was kidding himself... anyways comments are welcomed and I plan on using this sight more often because I am suited now towards the primitive bows! This was an amazing adventure and I can't see myself stopping for quite some time! I plan on shooting the bow a ton tomorrow night after work so that I can take it into the woods before the opening of muzzleloader here in NH this weekend.

The only thing left to do is put my beaver tail handle wrap on tomorrow after I talk to an old fella about leather work tomorrow night!

Comments are welcomed... negative or positive... thanks for the look!!!

The tiller looks good especially for your first. The upper limb does look a bit stiff towards the tip but that shouldn't hurt anything.

Very good effort for a first bow, well done. The upper limb is bending a little too much a little too close to the handle but I wouldn't worry about it too much for now.

Good looking bow. Each bow is a learning experience, and a piece of art. Good luck hunting.

Great lookin bow man! It's an extremely addictive hobby, but at least it's a cheap one. Well it can be cheap if you harvest your own wood. Good job on number one, keep it up.

Looks great and congratulations.  I stopped aiming for perfect, I just pursue what I find enjoyable.  But, everyone's pursuit is different, I suppose.  Welcome to PA and look forward to seeing more of your work.
