Blue Dragon Bow for my Bro PIC ADDED
« on: October 10, 2011, 03:11:53 am »
My brother came for a visit several months ago and we did some shooting.  We shot several designs and the one he liked best was a Mollegabet.  He said, "If I had one that's the kind I would want."

I've made bows for my two other brothers for their birthday's.  His is on October 17th and this is his bow.

I don't quite have a name for it so I'm calling it the Blue Dragon Bow....because of the dragons in the art work and the blue colors in the design.

The top limb says "Nathan Son of Jon (pronounced yawn)" and the bottom Limb says "Hero of Iceland".   He served a mission for our church and lived in Iceland for 2 years.  I know he helped some people there though he would not consider himself a hero I think he will like the title I've given him.

The handle is leather dyed blue with some tooling work and stitched together with black B50.  The rope border on the limbs is painted with metalic silver acrylic paint but it's hard to see how it shines in these pics...

The arrow rest comes from the point of a dear antler I have from our late Uncle's property in Colorado.  It should add some meaning....

Stats:
Mollegabet
Hickory
60" T2T
43lbs @ 28"

I think it bends a little too much near the fades and not enough through the rest of the working limbs but it shoots well and only took moderate set.  Thanks for looking.

Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Mollegabets are one of my personal favorites, even built a couple ::), and that's a good one. dont believe there is anything wrong with your bend profile at all.

PS: since the levers on the limbs do not bend ya got to measure limb set/ follow at the lever fades not the tip. Sort of like the indicator needle on a spine tester....the weight moves a fraction and the indicator moves a whole lot more, eh? As far as Molle's go your's aint got any set 8)
