Hunting This Year, This Way
« on: September 17, 2011, 06:04:48 pm »
This will be my way this year. I ground/stalk hunt 99.9% of the time. My daughter got this for me for my b-day. Prcticed this morning with it on. Had to cut some strands on the bottom of the bow arm sleeve. I like to stalk and sit, stalk and sit. Let me know what ya think.

you have many deer walk by the propane tank ??  ;)

looks like that should definitely work! seems to blend in well this time of year....
sorta wonder what it'll look like later in the fall into winter.

I stillhunt on the ground too. Good stand-sitting friend of mine gave me an old ghillie and though I haven't tried it yet(been too hot) I have big plans ;D

Your outfit looks just right and it appears your daughter knows you well!

sonny.....You would'nt believe how many deer walk past that tank. That's why I sit there with a knife ::) ;D ;) No. really was just trying to show off the colors. Around here, it looks like that a lot of the season. You can always find some shadow, brown leaves and shade all mixed in.

Put it on and go out and shoot Lane. It is a diff. feeling with it hanging of of ya.

I was surprized how well that camo works when seen in black and white.

That's quite the suit. Unfortunetely where I am from you need to wear hunters orange when bowhunting because it is during the same time of year as bird season. But I've been told by the head deer biologist in my province that deer can't see hunter's orange anyway, so theoretically a ghillie suit that was completely hunters orange should still work just as well as a camo one for whitetail.

I wrote a long winded explanation about how camo works you might find it interesting.

That's my M.O. for the forsseeable future. Got a ghillie last year and love it. Tree stands are too heavy and loud for my 40 year old butt.

I too have to hunt during an open gun season and orange is required.  I pin the required orange to the back of my ghillie and to the top back of my head.  I have orange strips that I tie into the front.    Hope this might help.
