My String Hits My Glasses..anybody else wear 'em?
« on: September 12, 2011, 10:21:25 pm »
After around twenty thousand shots since January my shooting had improved considerably. Still ain't good but anything at 15 or less has a problem.

Broke my glasses and got bigger lenses in the new ones to help with the progressive bifocal they make you wear when you get old. First session with the new glasses they got knocked off three times. Never happened before but there it is.

Evidently my nocking point (cheek bone w/first thumb knuckle) puts the string behind my specs. Am now using middle finger in corner of mouth but it sure feels funny.
Aint losing much draw length it is just lower.

Anybody else ever had this problem?

I hollered before I counted the pigs. Shot 2 hours today, maybe 200 arrows, and my groups are not only better but much more repeatable. Consistent and consistently better.
Ain't real hard to figure, I was actually pulling at an angle before and now it is straight in line with my eye. Only took me 50 some years to get it right.

Never had that trouble and I did the same as you did with the glasses, bigger.
But I have always anchored ,middle finger in the corner of my mouth.  :) I do have problems with them fogging sometimes, especially in cold weather if I try and wear a mask and pull it up to cover my mouth. >:( >:(

I don't have problems with hitting my glasses...but I do shoot better with my old glasses than my new ones...kinda craps me out because the new glasses have changed my sight picture

Well yes. To me the problem is that if the string contacts your glasses at full draw, that is enough to break concentration and make you re-calibrate. I just got some elastic straps I plan to try and will report back. PD

I wear glasses....no problem with shooting.  But do have problems sometime with them fogging up.  I use anti fog spray cleaner but do forget it from time to time.

Used to have this problem - with wheelies.  ;) switched to a chin anchor as I shortened up for stickbows.

I only have the problem with longer bows.  The 52" osage bow that I'm currently shooting is no problem.  At some point I did develop a lower anchor and shoot better that way too.  I do have the glasses fogging problem though.
