Osage take-down self bow
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:41:51 am »
I wanted to build a special bow for my wilderness elk hunt this fall so I picked through my small stash of Osage and selected a pair of billets that Tim Ott had graciously sent me a few years ago. The bow is 64” ntn and draws 60# @ 27”. Limbs are 1 ½” wide tapering to just under ½” at the tips. The tips are made from an elk shed that I found on the Oregon coast and the handle is made from elk hide that was harvested from an animal from the same area. The tips were flipped up slightly using dry heat and I backed the limbs with diamond back snake skins. The quiver was made by Steve Catts using a wolverine that a friend of mine killed in Alaska.

I don’t often work with Osage because it is hard to get out here, but sure enjoy it when I do. I hope you like the bow.

don't know what's not to like, the bows that you post are always top-line bows, as good as it gets, Bub
