HEy everyone,
I know I haven't been on here much lately, but I needed all your prayers and support at this very difficult time. My dad passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly earlier this week, and I was out of town visiting my brother in Iowa when I received the call on Wed morning.
He had actually been in Iowa with us, but had to leave after a few days because of an upcoming business trip. He left Iowa early on Monday and got home to GA around 4 p.m. I spoke to him during the trip on his cell phone, and he gave no indication that anything was wrong or that he was feeling bad. That evening he was making a meatball sandwich for dinner when he just collapsed on the kitchen counter. We believe it was a massive heart attack because it took him immediately. After not showing up for the trip and co-workers not being able to reach him, his business partner called his dad Wed moning and told him to come to the house to check on him and that's when they found him.
My dad is instrumental in fueling my interest in primitive archery and primitive skills. Before I could even drive he would take me all over north GA looking for flint so I could have the right stone to make arrowheads. He also had a genuine interest in primitive skills, and he encouraged me to pursue my interest in writing and primitive archery. Without his encouragement I may not have ever given it a chance.
Anyway, we have a lot to go through and a lot of things to do this week, but I wanted to let you all know what a great father, friend, and mentor he was to me. I am blessed to have had him in my life and he will be deeply missed.
