HBH Molly
« on: March 22, 2011, 10:58:29 pm »
I've been working on this as a build-a-long and got it finished this afternoon. It's a Hickory backed Hickory. It's 52#@27"  51" nock 2 nock. 53" over all. The handle is 1x1x4 going iinto 1,5" fades, Working limbs are 1 5/8 wide and 12" to 1.5" fades to levers. Levers are9.5" tapering to .25 at tips. Side of levers are 1" from end of fade tapering to .50" at tips. Shoots good and suprizingly very very little hand shock. It took 1/2" of set and 3/4" of string follow. I used minwax red mahogany stain for the back and levers. Used Old English scratch remover for dark wood on the belly's working area of the limbs. Wrapped the handle in black leather with a wedge of IPE for the shelf and IPE tip overlays. If I missed anything please ask. Hope ya enjoy ;)

How wide are the working sections of the limbs?  How wide are the tips at the nocks?

Very very nice.

If it doesn't rap the lintel, it might not be a longbow.

I love it.  Very nice.  I've been saying to myself that a Molly is my next project.  I'll have to check out your build along.  What an awesome bow!

I've never built amollie and not real familiar with them but just looking at the full draw pic I'd have to say you nailed the tiller.  Very nice bow!  8)
