A good return
« on: March 16, 2011, 12:38:13 am »
A month ago my neighbor came down with the flu, down in bed bad. I notice that his wood pile was lacking and the forecast was yelling blizzard, so I figured to help him out a bit, with a couple truck loads of wood. I never thought about it much as we are always helping each other out from time to time. So I loaded him up.

Well last night he hollered at me, (knowing that I like Osage) and told me to have a pick of his post pile? I had noticed it out back but all I seen was the kind of stuff that Pappy likes,  ;D so I never gave it much of a look see. I figured I’d humor him tonight and dig through it.
There on the bottom was a log that had no doubt been there a bit as all the bark was gone and it was black with age. I rolled it back and forth  and found very few worm holes, looked clear, so I told him, “this will do”. I cut it to length and he helped me load it.Once home I went to work and bout an hour later, this was the outcome!

I just may have to cut him some more wood?

I completely agree with Pappy.
That is some good looking Osage.

Nice, Timo! An hour later and you had split all those? 15 minutes later and I'd be ready for a nap. :) Jawge

Nice haul!  That should keep you busy for a while :)

Going to head over to my parents in the next week or so to help with cutting up some Ash they've felled for fire-wood.  Gonna see if I can "liberate" some pieces for possible bows.
