New hard maple flatbow
« on: May 17, 2007, 10:06:48 pm »
Here's my latest creaton.  It's hard maple(either black or sugar), 65" ntn, 1 11/16" at the fades tapering to 1/2" nocks.  I heat treated about 4" of reflex into.  Immediately after unstinging, it sits at about 3/4" of reflex.  After a few hours it settles at about 1 1/2" of reflex.  Draw weight is 55# @ 28".  Needless to say, this one was inspired by the magnificent vine maple bows that Gordon has been building!

Awesome bow, I love it. I especially love Hard Maple, carried a maple stick all last deer season. Honestly one of the best woods I have ever used.

Nice Job on that one! I think maple is under rated as bow wood. It definitely makes a nice bow if you get it Dry enough...

Nice looking bow there.  You sure have been turning out a lot of sharp bows lately.  Justin

That's just about a perfect looking flatbow, don't see how it could get much better. Fine work.
