center shoot bows

    I'm a hunter this is why I started building selfbows. And my bows have evoled to as close to center shot as the stave will let me most are.  I shoot ,shoot arrows this gives me a wide range in spine. Witch helps because it's really hard to make more than a few at close to matched matched weights. Dosn't matter I don't shoot that good anyway.  Beautifull arrow flight dead quit and I shoot off the wood with nothing on the string.Who else likes building and shooting center shot selfbows.

I am a little too new to post anything of relevance here, but right now each bow i build is too precious to weaken with a severe arrow pass but as i build more and more bows i plan to experiment with how close i can get to center shot.

No center shot bows for me, i just shoot longer arrows

I build a shelf into mine, but as my arrow building becomes improved and I harvest a few more deer,  I think i'll go more primitive.

I cut mine mostly about 1/8" off of center. Never had one break from cutting in arrow shelf yet.

i make mine as close to center shot as the stave will allow
i have cut in shelfs occaisionlay,but prefer not to(personal choice)
but i find that alot of times if your carfull with our layout
and you dont get in to much of a hurry to make the handle right away
that once you get it tillerd and then shape your handle
you can get the mpretty close to center shot with out cutting a shelf in

 I do both. I also cut a shelf in both sides that was pretty close to being center shot from the right or the left side, didn't have a problem with it.

Not usually center shot but about 1/8 or so in some bows,but not all,I like using staves that let me do that without cutting one in if possible.

I don't like cutting shelves into selbows, but file the arrow pass closer to center on flatbows. It's more so to help use the arrows I already have, as I've never had any arrow flight problems regardless of how far from center the bow is. If I am, it means I just need different arrow spine.

I try to shoot at least forty arrows off my knuckle before committing to which is the top or bottom limb. Once I'm pretty sure the tiller won't migrate I'll cut a 1/4" shelve or add wedge of leather or wood or do both. Sometimes on D bows it's a floppy rest. I agree the more center shot the wider variety of arrow spine the bow will handle. I find that I shoot 5/16 arrows spined 40-45 in bows up to 50# and 11/32 arrows spined the same in bows above 50#.

  Yea grunt I shoot,shoot arrows that really widens the spine I can use. I start my shelf right away and by the time I get to tiller it's in. After I tiller I go back and fine tune it in. I always cut my shelf at least 1/8 most are center shot. I've also never had one break. I built wood land bows with out shelfs. I just perfer a center shot shelf for hunting.
