An osage bow for Rocky
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:05:56 pm »
It has been a while since I made anything. Alot of changes and challenges have gotten in the way of being in the right mindset. I finally got the bug and built one for my buddy Rocky. He has shown alot of interest in my bows, so I decided he needed one of his own. I hope I'm not too photo heavy.  Its a 59" osage flatbow 45# @28"  1-1/16 at the fades and 3/8" at the tips. 15 strand Dacron B-50string  and a leather handle grip.  It started out with alot of deflex in the handle and naturally reflexed tips that started at the last third of the limb but those came out in the midst of tiller so  it doesn't have as much set as you might think by looking at it. It draws smooth and shoots dead on  and quiet. Its balanced as well as any I have made

Nice snaky bow ya got there - love the handle area - naturally flows with the rest of the bow.

Here is Rocky at full draw

I also made him three cedar arrows for it and they shoot like darts so I guess I goit the spine right. They were 55's but I cut them 2" longer and they shot like 45's so it worked out good. Hope you all like it , he was tickled pink ( as you can see from the color of his face, lol.   Danny

Postman thanks the stave had a natural delfelx so I just incorporated it into the handle area, it make the handle placement feel like it belongs there.

Thanks Pat he really likes it, its his first bow ever.

Ken  yes I love giving them away. I won't say I would'nt sell one but I get great satisfaction from giving when I can.

Very nice bow.  Is that a metalized buffalo skull I see hanging on the barn?

Outlaw   Thanks. The buffalo skull is the real deal. I shot that one 3yrs ago with a rifle  and saved the skull and tanned the hide. Needless to say the meat was awesome.
Thanks Jawge, Keenan ohma and N2.

I taught him how to shoot a year ago. He takes instruction well. As a matter of fact I'm better at teaching it than I am doing it...lol Most of those I have shown how are better than me. If I could only learn to practice what I preach...lol  Danny
