Souletrean Spear
« on: December 22, 2010, 09:53:37 pm »
Here is a spear that I made last week to take with me on the hunt to kill pigs with Mecslasher and Mullet.  I hope to have the opportunity to stick a pig or at least throw the spear at a pig.  Guess we'll have to wait and see.   :D
The blade is made of jade green rhyolite and the European Souletrean Leaf style.  The blade measures 9.25" long x 3" wide x -.25 at its midriff tapering towards the bypoints.  It has a 67" long hickory shaft, 1" diameter tapering towards the end, asphaltum, sinew and hide glue binding with deer rawhide over that at the blade/shaft junction.  Overall length is 76.25 " long.  Wish me luck   >:D >:D >:D  james

That'll do the job. I had a chance to stick one two years ago there and left the spear in the golf cart :(. I'm working on two atlatl darts for Tim right now. It's going to be cold, piggies ought to be on the move, they are down here.

I am scared for the hogs that thing looks lethal!!!  I might have to make it down there some day..I would love to get a hog with any primitive weapon.
