I made some Chips!

Well I did it. I cut down the mulberry. It was more work to cut it than it was to split it. I striped the bark. It slipped so easily that I could have split it down one side and pulled it all off in one piece for a quiver.
The heart wood was much smaller than expected. The sapwood had one growth ring that was more than one full inch thick. The heartwood was yellow, the very center was dark orange.
I didn't rough out the bow shape because I am not feeling as good as I thought I was. I sealed the ends and the back with glue. we'll see how it turns out.
I have another question about splitting out staves I'll ask in another thread to keep it to one topic.
Well I guess I've taken the plunge.

Good stuff, mulberry's a good bow wood. The thick sapwood isn't such a bad thing, while you can use only the heartwood on mulberry I have mad good bows from it the were a mix of both and all sapwood for the limbs.
