Indonesian/Filipino archery..... anyone with any pics?
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:06:08 pm »
I'm just started thinking about making a replica based on Indonesian, Papua New Guinean, and Filipino hunting bows and arrows. And I was wondering on what can I do to make them strong enough to bring down more than just deer (boars, stag, water buffalo maybe) because some of them look relatively weak. Anyway some pictures of bows and arrows from certain tribes would be nice. You know, just for some inspiration.

Bush- I posted some of these a week or so ago. Filipino Aeta bow and arrows. Arrows are bamboo with iron points, hand filed. These are from the 20's-30's. Bow is palm wood, long bow almost 6' long. 1/2" thick and 7/8" at widest point. Tom

I'm aiming for a draw weight of around 60# range; is it possible for a aeta bow to be made out of an oak stave.
