New Toy

I just got me a new chainsaw.  Decided to go with the Stihl 250 w/ a 16"bar- If a tree is much bigger than it will handle, I'm probably not going to be dropping it.  Going to use it this weekend to get me some bow wood (elm and bradford pear).  Of course I had to act upset over "having" to go get a chainsaw to clear out a few treas...the wife said "If you have to have it, just go get it and don't worry about it"

Got me a new 310 toy about this time last year.  Love it.

I need to go play with it " cut firewood" when the weather cools off.

I got me one about 5 yrs ago..still love it. Only thing wrong with it was the first time I took it out to use it.The guy at the store
put the chain on backwords.It was good for a laugh.Other then that it has been great.

I bought that same saw in 1995 and used it last Tuesday to cut some osage.  No telling how many staves it has accounted for.  Still has the original chain on it.  There's probably about 25% of the metal left on those teeth.  Really need to buy a new chain.  Love the saw.  Suspect you will too.  Looks like they've improved it.

I bought that same saw a few years ago and while it doesn't get used all that often I know I can trust it to start after only a couple of pulls.....
very reliable, ample power.

i used to use stihl and jonserud all day long,back when i worked on a foretry crew
many many years ago
i prefered the jonseruds back then but stihl makes on hell of a saw(personal preferance)

now i only have a 18" poulon pro
ya i know wha your all thinking,piece of crap
but i dont need a saw for fire wood
i only need on for cutting that occasional tree down for staves
maybe one tree a year adn this works just fine for

remember its not a good idea(no matter what kind of saw you have) to leave fuel in the tank or carb for extended periods of time when not in use
modern fuels can play hell on them when they sit
it can cause the carb bowl to pit,plays hell on needles and seats in the carb also,not to mention the fuel will break down after about 3 months
modern gas sucks ass

enjoy that saw,it will probably outlast you if you take proper care of it

I've got three gas Stihl's and one electric Stihl and I've had these saws for over twenty years.. Only thing I do is swap out the sparkplugs every couple of years on the gas saws. Stilhs don't rev as high as some of the others but they are pretty much trouble free. I store my saws setting on their sides with the fill caps pointing up, that way they never leak.

I used a jonserud when I worked with the NC Wildlife Resource Commission. Still the cuttingest dang saw I ever used to this day.
