Hackberry bow what do you think?
« on: September 02, 2010, 09:41:29 pm »
This is my latest bow, hackberry, 64" ntn 48lbs. @ 28", blood wood tips and deer leather handle. I tried to flip tips, not to much stayed, heat treated the belly and backed in carp skin, and maple stain and linseed oil. This is my first tip overlays. Tell me what you guys think. She zings an arrow pretty good. It bends slightly through the handle, I can feel it some, I think it could a little more I don't know.

Very nice bow :) Love the blood tips.

Judging by that cloud in the backround you may want to stop waving that bow about or there will be nawt besides some smokin boots!  ;D

Thanks, for the good comments, we did get a good storm, but it was a ways off at that point. Deer season is three weeks off, finished her just in time.

I like the tiller and gotta agree with Pappy on the toasting. I have some hackberry now and its real tough to see the grain but its nice, that toasting really brings it out. I bet that thing is gonna hammer some deer this season. I really like the carp skin backing as well. I've heard of it, just never thought of trying it myself but I may have to now.
