egyptian chariot bow
« on: July 21, 2010, 08:39:20 pm »
an upate on this bow from the composite thread i posted earlier this year,(,angular composite bow - horn, maple, sinew)..55" tip to tip--56#@29"..white birch bark covering, alternating bands of outside and inside bark. gold silk string.. this bow finished out really nice,,shoots well with an above average speed,,would have been even better if i had waited a couple more months before bracing, but still a good shooter..next one of these i build will be a little shorter  ,maybe 52" . enjoy :)            james

Sweet looking bow James.

Sweet, James. That style looks like it ought to fold up in the handle. If it's too light in weight maybe you ought to give me a call?  ::) ;)

A beautiful re-creation of a type of bow we seldom seen done.  I wouldn't have expected that much curved recurve to straighten almost completely out once strung (I would have though the sting limbs would be more curvaceous).

Bravo! :o

She came out very nice James. Quite a bit different then when I saw it 2 weeks ago. Will you show a close up of the bark wrap.
