Zebra osage selbow
« on: June 10, 2010, 10:08:12 pm »
I just finished my latest bow.  This has been the fastest I have ever built one.  I went from stave to shooting it in less than two weeks, it usually takes more like two months.  Everything just came together right on this one.  It is 64" ntn and 55lb @26".  It has a fairly good sized knot near the tip that I had to work around.  I tried to make pin nocks.  They might be a little long, but I really like how they turned out.  I backed it with zebra pattern tissue paper, also known as the PatB backing.  Thanks for all of the tips Pat.  Since I am a Cincinnati Bengals fan, I think I will dye the next one orange before putting the stripes on.  I will be shooting this bow at the Cloverdale shoot this weekend.

Nice bow!   I really like the design on the back, Tiller looks good and your handle area is pretty awesome too..   Great bow dude!   :)

hey outlaw,

i am working on a stave that had a knot that was open on the bellyside and did not go all the way through.  the hole was jsut a ring from being all the way open.  i had to work around it too.  i went ahead and cleaned itout all the way through.  i probably killed it but i like working with osage and hope and pray that i can make a shooter from it.  i have seen other bows in this community that had holes in the limbs and they were great looking and still just as functional.  that is what i am working towards.

that is nice work.  i hope that mine will turn out that good.

Thanks for the kind words.  She sure does shoot sweet, and pretty fast too.

Selfbow and pistol grip don't go along for me very well, but besides that it's a fantastic bow!

Great bow, Outlaw.  I love the tips and the tiger stripe.  Excellent tiller at full draw.  Good job working around the knots also.  Well done.
