Enyone knapp slate before?got some tiles broke up they look like they might do.

Slate will not knap. You can grind it into a pretty sharp point. I've made reproduction Ulu's out of it you could skin with.

Split them a little less than a quarter inch thin, chip them oval shaped, set into the underside of a small turtle shell and use it for a turkey call.
