lialac shafts
« on: March 26, 2010, 07:48:47 pm »
Hey guys. I cut a bunch of lialac shoots off the lialac tree in my yard because I hear they will make an arrow. They seem kinda floppy tho, will they stiffen up as they dry? Also how long should I let them dry?

dont know for sure with lilac, but i would think they would stiffen as they dry
as far as how dry,  well dry
let us know how these work,i have a hedge row of lilac on my property line that is about 40' long,10' wide
if this works i will have to give it a go,but i doubt it will work better than the red osier im used to
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd

Haven't tried them but should work fine, lilac is some hard ass wood but its prone to checking.
