I always grind my first then freeze, I put it in 10lb vacuum seal bags, I can flatten them out so they don't take up as much room and thaw fairly quick.  :)

Man, you guys were cranking out some Brats! I still have a bunch of the brats I brought down in ten pound bags. I ran out of casing too. When I get some more casing I'm going to make some Boudin sausage. I've never tried making it with the rice added so we'll see how it goes.

That should be good Eddie, ya we had a good day, got about 130/140 to make this weekend and that will probably do it for the year, I try to get them all done in Jan. early Feb. I get really busy as the Classic starts closing in on me and don't seem to have time for much else.  ??? ;) :)

Great weekend, the rain finely stopped so got some out side stuff done along with a little shop work. While the rain was going on I decided to defrost my much needed old refrigerator, it was built in the 50's but probable better than anything new you can buy now, it just needs a little TLC now and then. ;) :) Also started another knife out of old farrier's rasp, got it softened and cut into shape.  :)

My girls just hanging out.I was trying to decide on handle for the knife, it was between antler or Leg bone from the bear Beau killed, finely decided on the Bear leg bone. Laid out some of the brat meat I had left over for our lunch, people wonder what I do with all the meat I work every year, I just smile and say Eat it.  ;) :) Broke the handle on my favorite can opener so repaired it with a antler tine, works great and looks better that the old plastic one that was on it.  :)

Got the tapper started on my blade, it was slow going on that big of a blade.  :) Also the brat burgers were great, may do more like that next year Good Lord willing. :)

Hide ready to roll up in until ready to Tan, Got out some of my jerky also, it turned out good and everyone seemed to like it. Blade tapper all finished , now fitting the handle and heat treat and temper. Saturday was pretty but cool but clear so we got on the logs Don had brought, wood pile was  looking pretty sad, looking better now, :) I figure we are about 1/3 done for what we need for the year.  :)

The wood is not the best, some of it is red oak which is great and some popular which is not the best for cols but as Grand Paw use to say, it beats a snow ball. :) ;) Sister just relaxing watching us work. :) Getting the cooking fire ready for what's to come.Handle fitted, now on to tempering the blade, hopefully this week.  :)

Will working on an Osage walking stick and Mark on a string for Margaret Ann's new bow, it looks good at brace and out to about 10 inches , just need to keep even and take some weight off. :)

Looks like a nice weekend Pappy.

I’m hoping to take a little road-trip and hopefully get a chance to stop by. Really would like to see your farm and visit a bit.

I don’t have a firm schedule but maybe soon.
