Show me your bow socks/covers
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:06:13 pm »
I what do you use to cover/protect your bow while transporting.  I don't want mine just rolling around in the back of the truck unprotected.  I need to make a cover or 3.  I'd like to see some of your designs.  I did a search, but do you have any idea how many posts come up with the word "bow" and/or "cover" in them.  haha

Mine aren't fancy, but they work and are easy to make. I need to make one in the next week or two. Ill post some pictures when I do.

Bow socks are great. Coupled with a length of 2' or 2-1/2' thin wall pvc pipe and a couple pipe caps is even better. Sock the bow, then slip the whole works inside the pipe, cap off each end and tape the caps in place and you are good to go.
keep it simple
make it fun

I used the time I spent at my mother's house between Xmas and New Year's to make 3 of those: Swiss army blanket (know as 'Woilach') and naturally tanned reindeer skin from northern Scandinavia.
The sewing is done pretty much the same way as Mrs.Hillbilly shows in the thread, all the leather sewing was by hand and a lot of work...  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Zen... These blankets remind me of trade blankets; I'm sure them would make nice bow socks, too!
