flu-flu small game arrows

 Well I haven't finished a bow since last summer but recently got the itch to make some small game arrows as squirrel season starts on Sept 5th.
So here's a dozen flu-flus- seven of which are self-nocked ramin dowels (the best I could find at the hardware store where I bought 'em,) the rest are crown dipped cedar that I've had around for a while.
There's one on the left that's flipped upside down to show the steel blunt.

....now that I've gotten my arrow-making "fix".. maybe I can finish a bow before archery deer season begins in early Oct.

btw the self-nocks are reinforced with a silk wrapping set in super glue.

Those oughta do the job. What kind of blunts do you like for squirrels?

I've never hunted just for squirrels but hope I can connect using the steel blunts I used on these arrows.

Sonny, the simplest and cheapest small game hear I have used is called a nutter. It is a plain old hex nut from the hardware store threaded on to the tapered end of the shaft. I usually add super glue but it is not needed. The end of the taper sticks out of the nut for penetration and the nut adds the shock.
  Every squirrel l I've shot with one hit the ground dead!

That  looks  like some  fine   work on  those self-nocks,  I  have  been  skeptical  about  self-nocks  until I  looked  at  your  arrows, right  well  done:)

hey Pat, yea I've heard of nutters. Even made a couple some time ago....have 'em in one of my quivers, somewhere I reckon.
but I had ordered those steel blunts a couple of months ago, decided to get off my lazy butt and make some arrows with 'em.

got a few hours in these arrows. I hope I don't lose any of 'em........though I suppose it'll be worth it just for the shear enjoyment of scaring the bejeezers     
out of some squirrels 

oh yea, first time using fletch tape which is well worth the money !!!!!!!!

Good luck with the squirrels and nice work on the arrows. Hope they don't all end up lost and broken, that is what happens to me when shooting up into the trees.

Happiness is a full quiver.
In the UK it's illegal to hunt with the bow, even vermin....
I get big fat wood pigeons in the garden which would be very tasty  .

Hmmm, Maybe, but we'd need to keep our football (soccer), fish n chips, BBC TV. We'd want to stay driving on left.
