New R/D Bow from blank. LOTS of pictures
« on: August 07, 2009, 09:46:26 pm »
This is another r/d bamboo backed ipe bow from one of David knights blanks. I liked my other one so much I had to make another like it :)
It's 66"ntn pulls 55#@28" but when you start drawing it you would swear its over 70# till you get it back.
It holds 1 3/4" of reflex when measured from the back of the handle. 3 3/4" reflex if you measure from the belly to the tips. It took zero set after several hundred shots. What more can I ask for. The handle woods are Davids choice except I cut off the top of the riser and added a stripe of ebony sandwiched between 2 American osage strips. Just wanted to try something a little different.  The bamboo is stained dark with RyanO's  technique. The wood and stain look much better in person. I cant get this camera to take a good close up. I dropped my good camera down an ice fishing hole last winter ;D

Thanks for looking :)

Great job on that one.  The tiller looks right on and the finish is real purdy.  Did you get any good pictures ice fishing that day. ;D

Thanks Rick Yes I did have some good pictures on the card including ones of the fish I had just caught. I thought it was kinda strange that the fish was laying on the ice and the camera with its picture on it was in the water ???

Looks great Jesse, what I like best is the fact that at full draw all the reflex is pulled out, so I'm gonna say that
she is a screamer :)

Very nice work!!
Jesse, you said the bow is 55lb at 28in but feels like 70lb. Do you mean that it is hard to draw the bow or the arrow shoots out so fast that it feels like a 70lb'er bow??
Thanks for your time.

Cromm what I meant was it has a lot of early draw weight but once you get it back a ways it gains weight slowly so it only feels heavy for the first half of the draw and then it doesnt pick up a lot at the end of the draw. If that makes sense ;D
