I am moving out of Florida for good on monday july 20th.....thats ok dont feel bad for me..lol im goin to Montana. so if anyone has noticed i havent been around much making bows or knapping, its because we have been packing about nonstop for the last month or so.
So anyways, Me and a friend of mine went digging for arrowheads a couple days ago, we didnt find any, probably b\c we were only out for about an hour before the fuzz showed up and issued us trespassing warnings...lol (right there is another strong reason why i am leaving the God forsaken state) but we did find a heap of flakes that was letting us know we were in the area. well i found a large flake of coral that was just a beautiful red color and that go me charged up about finding some stone. So i hunted around another location and right out in the open i found this large head of coral. it was about 110- 115 pounds. so i took it home and grabbed a hammerstone and spalled that puppy out. after knocking off the cap rock and getting around the coarse stone and coral pockets, i cam out with about 40 pounds of nice spalls, quite a few were a really glassy rootbeer color, i am excited to get to my destination and heat treat some of this to see how it looks and works then. i never find good coral, but i think i found some this time, close to the hernando\pasco border in a low lying swampy area. this is probably the last coral i will get so i will use it sparingly..lol not a bad going away present huh? truth be told, i would have much rather found a nice complete point, but this will do.
