More osage rookie tillering...

I now have my osage bow on a shorter string and now at a low brace. 

The following pics are my tillering efforts.  Still not quite perfect, but hopefully headed in the right direction.

The midlimbs could bend a tad more but other than that it looks nice and even.  If that is a glued on handle, it may try popping off because the limbs bend right from the fades.

Your right side is bending a little more than the left.  I also notice that your pulley isn't centered.  Is that intentional to mimic where your arrow will pass?  If you have access to sinew, you could wrap either end of the handle, to help prevent it from popping.  JMO

I made a good string for it this evening, strung it to a 6.5 inch brace, worked the limbs some back to my draw lenght and went out to the yard and shot it maybe 20 times.

The tiller changed ... the bottom limb ended up developing some stiffness. I am not sure if this is a regular occurence or not. I let it rest for an hour or so then reworked the bottom limb. I had to scrape it some the entire length. I then worked the limbs some to try and register the change, then put it back on the tillering tree. I didn't work it very long, but it looks way better and is approaching getting back to where it is supposed to be.

I am going to let it rest tonight and work on it some tomorrow.

Yes, the pulley is off centered some to so I can pull the string from where my hand would pull when I am shooting (about 1.5 inches above center).

I worked on shaping my handle today as well.  Probably will wrap with something and use a wooden wedge to make the shelf.

The handle shape looks good.  As long as it feels comfortable.

Maybe a little more mid limb on the left limb and a little out of the fad on the right.Can't see but
about half of the right in the picture.Overall looks real good.

Looking great Sandy! The tiller looks pretty dang good to my untrained eye. I'm sure these guys can help you fine tune it. How'd it shoot? Can't wait to see finished pics.

I scaled it today ... its pulling #57@28 right now.

I still have to 'shoot it in' and round off the limbs and sand & finish it.  Hopefully it will still be ~50# after that.  I doubt it will loose much more than #5 (from what I have researched and read) from these final processes.
