Osage "D" Bow
« on: May 24, 2009, 11:54:20 pm »
This bow is one that I have been needing to make for some time now. Like 25-30 years. You see when I was a teenager my brother started making bows and after completing his first hickory bow, that he was no doubt very proud of, he handed it to me one day and on the first pull... SNAP!! I will never forget the look on his face. I didn't know what to do... Now I do. I will be giving him this bow at our family reunion next month. It is 60"ntn and pulls 58# @ 26". The finish is Tru-Oil and the handle is buckskin that my brother gave me.

That looks great.  I just started on an Osage D bow.  Now I know what it can look like if I do it right.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Well done.  I like what you've done.  Nice work on the tips, simple, but not plain.  Hope your brother enjoys it.  Make sure you tell him it's his before he gives it a pull....  :o

Good one Okie and nice gesture! Or is it payback? I'm sure he'll be proud of it.
