My best point yet.
« on: May 19, 2009, 01:14:37 am »
Just thought I'd share this one with ya'll.  I think it's the best one I've ever made, especially from a spall.  I can't believe I didn't break it!

The other little point is from some kind of chert I picked up in the road today. The stuff was everywhere, but that was about the biggest flake I got from any of it.  Every time I would hit a piece of it, it would just fall to pieces. >:(  It knapped really well. I just wish I could find some bigger, more solid pieces.

Good lord, Shannon-you're getting really good really quick. Those are sweet. That littlun looks like it might be some kind of Muldraugh chert, cool looking material.

Them are great Shannon! Looks like your getting that percussion down and you've always been good with pressure. The sky is the limit - good works..

Thanks, Bone pile, David, Tracy and Jamie . :)

Tim, turkey hunting is my calling. But I gotta find something else to do after season closes.  Bowfishing is my second favorite pastime.  But the darn water's so high, it'll be July before it clears up enough to see anything.

How'd them bones smell, Eddie ? ;D

Steve, I don't know what that little one's made from.  I know the natives used it because I've found several points made from it.  I find it in variying grades, from pretty sandy and dry, to almost waxy.  I wish I could come up with some bigger pieces because it flakes to a very sharp edge and seems to be pretty tough.  I'd like to make some hunting points from it.  I'm about out of rock, so it looks like I'll be doing a lot of looking for some pretty soon. :(

Thank you Paul, But the rock pile is the limit. :( Old Buddy, Old Pal (hint hint) ;D
