My rat killin for today. Flint run.
« on: May 03, 2009, 06:52:06 pm »
Did a job out west of Georgetown, TX.  Hit up an old feller across the road about picking up some flint. He sure didn't mind me hauling off all the rock I wanted. Anyway, this is Georgetown stuff and I think I have enough now ;D. Oh, the pictures don't look like much but any one of those rocks out there is as likely to be flint as not. All the big pieces I prybar'd out of the ground.

Wow ! Great haul. Boy, That is a great resource. I can see how some folks would'nt mind you relieving the pasture of some of it's rocks. When I was working at a dairy in Idaho,One of my jobs was taking rocks out of the pastures and putting them onto a wall.No flint though, just leaverites. Paid good.
Cowboy,I still have not hafted my big red blade yet,but I will.I take it out about 1 or 2 times a month and just carress it a little,my wife thinks I'm a little touched, but Oh Well. I will get around to it along about next winter probably. Wolfwatcher sent me a set of points of the same material,so I'm thinking about some kinda display set maybe. Thanks for sharing. Best regards;  Frank

Nice haul.  His yard would have probably looked like a groundhog colony hit by the time I got through.  I would have had to haul in dirt, reseed and fertilze.
