Okay then all we need is either some ironwood or Brazilian ipe. Before you start crafting; do a little research about the Amazonian indians and the form of archery they do. Then after you got the design right, tie a line to your bow strong enough to pull a fish in. After all the Amazon is one of the best places to bowfish.

So, bowfishing with an Amazon bow is your idea?
I've always wanted to go bowfishing. :)

Hey Bushman,

I actually own a south American bow and arrow made by the Chumani indians of northern Bolivia.  I wrote an article about it in PA and it should be coming out in the next few months....Keep an eye out for it.  It has some close-up photos of different parts of the bow and the arrow.  A guy gave it to me this past summer when I was doing a flintknapping demo at a hunting show down in macon, GA

I don't know much about the tribes of South America but I already know they are one of the last people who are truly wild and free.

just from what i can see in the picture, it would'nt be hard to do. it might be if you only want to do reproductions, but try different woods. for example i am going to try to only build bows from local woods.(northwest)
