Kay County knife
« on: February 20, 2009, 10:48:50 pm »
Well, I actually started this to be my entry in the January Point of the month Bollin challenge, but because I'm so slow, I turned the preform into a February blade.

It's a piece of heat treated Kay County (Lawrence A) chert from around the Ponca City area. The antler is from a deer my cousin killed last season.  He doesn't know it yet, but he's getting a piece of antler back with a little something else attached.

Thanks Hawk, what's the penny for?

Thanks Steve, by the way, what's up with the police man smiley face in my post?  I was trying to put Lawrence A in parenthesis and that came out.

A capital "A" followed by a parentheses is HTML code for the cop smileyface just like a colon and parentheses gives you the standard smileyface.

The penny is an old tradition.. if someone gives you a blade you give them a penny, so as not to cut the friendship :) Hawk
