FINALLY!!!! Technolagy sucks, that's why we do this stuff right? This is the siberian elm from a friends yard, it's a trash tree here which is good for me. 40'' ntn, 1 1/2'' wide to midlimb, 3/4'' wide at tips, 40# at 18''. At on;y 1/2'' set, I decided to leave it as is. The paint is poster paint and since the brush I baught wasn't getting the lines straight like I wanted, I used one of the shavings frome the stave to paint with. Score another one for "primitive" methods. I'm still looking for something to paint into the empty spot above the handle wrap. Any coments are welcome.

Very neat. I like adding those West Coast paintings to the backs, they add individuality to the bows.
Good job!

You're assuming I'm even capable of drawing a nice circle :-\. Those are cool. Maybe if I printed one small enough and stencled it...

I use a pinch grip on short bows and a mediterranean grip one the longer ones. I'm just looking for a good source of local cane or bamboo. I'm trying to get away from using fast flight for my string and bindings, at least for a few bows. Anyway, I'm rambling.

Nice lookin paint job. That style, could be considered Maidu or Wintu. They often used a narrower bow than others of the region.Maybe smaller triangles faceing downward on the tips, along the lines.

Or faceing up,in a 2 1 2 pattern,or you could leave it as it is.It looks fine thataway.
