Been out tinkering with some slag glass last few days due to not having any heat treated rock - have accomplished that in last couple of days also. So now I can work on some authentic blades for trade, barter and other thangs :). Got this glass at a souviner shop in Branson - it's slag from the Fenton glass company.

Very nice Paul. Those blades look pretty cool
-
Good job Cowboy! are you going to put handles on em'?That box has some interesting colors init.do you slab the glass first or just knock it out?
Anyway nice job
Bonepile

Thanks Marc! Have you had any success with your knapping?
Hey bonepile, I appreciate it. I don't own a rock saw, just grab a chunk and go to work on it :).
-
OH, I may or may not put handles on those - probably give em away..
-
Dang...those look great! And probably not easy due to the bubbles in the glass. Are those bubbles or air pockets I see?
-
Great job, Paul. That red stuff was some of the first stuff I tried to knap. Bonepile, I was at Claude's this morning and he was wondering if you were Roger?

Nice blades cowboy.
-
Heck paul i would use them to decorate yer Christmas Tree ;D
-
Paul, nice looking blades. I like working that Fenton glass, but i think they've went out of business and it's getting scarce. That yellow/pink piece in the upper left boz corner looks almost exactly like the one I made Madcrow's knife from:

Thanks fellers :). I've had nothing but time here lately (well the last few days anyway), have been trying to conquer the world otherwise - long story :-X. Those are gas pockets in the glass Pat, thier small so easy to work around - nothing like what Hillbilly has in his blade. I may try to work around one of those next, hmm.. ::)..
-
awesome looking stuff. throw on a tyedye shirt and your ready for huntin ;D good luck conquerin the world buddy ;)
-
Jamie, i'm about ready to smash that machine - lets do it come back? ::)..

Nice job Paul....but you really need to get a Saw......save on the Glass and Obsidian too.....Also Fenton isn't out of Business....they shut their doors for a while for a chapter 13 reorganization...but believe me...My House is full and it is still coming....so they ain't out of Business....QVC and my Wife have kept them afloat!!!

Paul: Good to see you're still gett'r done. I've been busy as all get out. What shop in Branson did you get the glass from, do you remember? I'm headed there next month, I hope. Is it cheap?

Mike: I ain't got a clue about the name of the shop. I hit it twice against the better?judgement of the wife and loaded up what I could afford at the time. It was on the main drag headed south of town, the road that goes over the dam (can't remember the lake). They sell anything ya want, including the chainsaw bears and such - good luck :).

Nice blades! That's a style I need to try, maybe in the Indiana Hornstone. I wanna make a knife for a friend. Thanks for the examples to pattern from.
