Here's a little osage bow I made ,it's just a very simple thing, but it's performance is way above par,and I wanted to share. For a basically straight design,(with very small flipped tips),it is exceptionally fast. This one is made from some wood I cut near Mt.Vernon,Tx.,a couple of years back, and I'm lookin' forward to getting into this new stock,as I've got several logs.(I get very little wood this straight). The stats are:
58 3/16" tip to tip, 57" nock to nock
1 3/16" at fades,tapering evenly to 3/8" tips
7" of non-working handle section,6" left stiff at tips. (@ 38" of working limb)
55#@ 25"

Nice bow! Great job on the tiller too. How fast is it? Do you know?
-
Great looking bow-looks like it was born to put meat on the table.
-
A very nice bow... well done!
-
Nice bow Pete, tiller looks great. A little osage goes a long way.

Looks like a killer to me Pete! Hmm, Mt Vernon - gonna have to check out the map and see where that is.

Love it Pete. Excellent job on the tiller. Clean, simple and looks like a rocket launcher. ;)

Thanks for the comments fellas.I hope the rest of this wood is as good as this piece.Brownhill,I don't have access to a chronograph, but,I can see a discernable difference in speed, the arrows are cookin'. Thanks and God Bless, PeteC
-
Well it sure does look fast...
-
Looks like you may even have problems with the fletching igniting in flight. hehehe.
Nice lines on that stick, just enough character to keep it from being boring looking. If you can hit what you're looking at, who cares what arrow speed ya get. Keep up the good work.

I did'nt even mention that JW.It is one of those kind of bows that just puts the arrow right where you're lookin'.It shoots very well. God Bless

Very nice. Congratulations! Jawge

Thanks again for the kind words. God Bless

very nice looking bow, i really enjoy those short bows. you did very good- Ryan

thats a beauty, the lenth really gets me too- i heard osage makes alot better shortbow than longbow, but that bow looks like a whip to me! hope ya can make some meat man -jimmy

Pete, that 's funny I just finished up an osage with almost the exact specs. The thing is lightening fast and drives an arrow half through my target at 20 yds. Makes my shoulder hurt a little when I draw it past 25''. I think it will make an excellent blind bow. Phil

Thanks again for the kind words all.Dismount,it is amazing how wood can vary so greatly.I have other bows which are similar, with the same tiller, that are pretty fast, but the speed difference is noticeable on this one.Lookin' forward to seeing your bow posted here. God Bless
