Post by: toms22 on November 03, 2008, 11:15:30 pm
fellow knappers, I have just got started in knapping and love it. I have a question to start a platform to reduce the flint down which side do you make the platform. Also question two I watch the videos on you tube and when pressure flaking I seem not to get my flake to travel very far. this guy on you tube make it look so easy. Need help in knapping,

to remove a thinning flack your platform should be at or below your centerline. The centerline is an imaginary line splitting the rock in two equal pieces. Always have a platform and if there is not one than make one.
Presherflacking takes practice. you really need to watch someone.
