Post by: sailordad on October 18, 2008, 10:22:46 pm
just watched the Mel Gibson movie by that name.
it was probalby very historically inaccurate.

i did see several, what lloked like, large obsidian blades and was just wondreing if any body knows if they were really knapped blades
or just hollywood props, and if real any idea who made them?

just a thought and observation

They were Hollywood props. The real nice, throat slicing, bone handle knife was plastic.

I have the DVD with the extra one on how the movie was made. Actually the Obsidean blades looked like rubber the way they would bend when the actors were playing around with them.

I would guess that they were casts of actual obsidian blades.
