I finally have been able to knap some during work, while running some perc-tests. I can only imagine how weird it must sound to people working across the mountain. :o I used hammerstones and an antler tine for pressure flaking. Still can't seem to keep um big before breakin em. :P I left a little red stuff on one for effect.

Look like quality points to me Jonathan :)

Thanks guys. I'm a learnin.

Nothing "crappy" about those points...but even if there were you should be able to wipe them off with a little paper off the roll! ;D
-
Not too shabby Johnathan - that one is a little crappy though ;D. Nice work with hammerstone and antler!
-
Nice work Jonathan. I'd hunt with them. Do you work for the County Health Dept? Pat
-
Looks like you ought to tie a couple of those onto shafts.Good work ! Frank
-
I would use those crappy points. They look good to me.

Still better than me... ;D ;D ;D

Thanks fellas,
Pat, I work for an environmental consulting firm. We do a lot of septic permitting in addition to other services.
Anyone going to the Clinch River Knap In this weekend?
-
Like everybody said Jonathan, those points are PRETTY crappy. Looks like you been practice to win the Brown throne next year.
-
That is quite an aspiring goal to shoot for, however, I think I would crack under the pressure.....again. Also, with all those great knappers in the running, I am probably at the bottom of the bowl. ;D

Nice work Berry, looks good to me. Kenneth

According to a local geologist, "thunder chert" or Johnstone is technically known as "crapite".
I think your points look great, I'd feel no shame shooting those in the field. And as a side note, Rit brand dyes will color the stone if you feel like blending into the woods...or standing out, depending on your color choice!

i see you have toilet paper. ::) thats all i need who needs the john. nice points
