Title: Tiller Check
Post by: Strongbow88 on September 30, 2008, 09:04:33 pm
What do you think of the tiller it is at target weight at 22''. Its braced at about 4'' and is drawn to about 20'' in the second picture. I had the bow crooked to the siding so it looks like the limbs are not bending evenly but they are even at brace. I am sooting for about 60 pounds at 28'' and the bow is hickory and is 68'' long.
Thank you for your comments

I'd say you're well on your way. Tiller looks pretty even. Maybe a bit more wood off mid limbs. Left limb is bending a bit more than right.

Looks pretty good. I'd go for a little more bending staring at the fades near the handle area. Jawge

I worked on my bow a little this afternoon. It is drawing 60# at 25'' now. and is at 22'' on the stick. Its braced at 5 3/4 inches now. It still has about 1 1/2 inches of reflex. the left limb is going to be the bottom. I worked alot to try to get it to bend more at the fades. It looks to me like the right limb is stiff out just past mid limb. And the left is still alittle stiff at the fades. What do you think?
                                                                                thanks

Looks pretty darn good. Just a little stiff coming out of the fades. I'd be using a scraper now and I'd be taking off just a little amount of wood. Mark the area with pencil marks and just remove them. You can leave the bow strung. Exercise the bow at short draws of 15 inches and check tiller. Jawge
