Lots of people like Mike's hunting stories but there's been a few here that have come down on him for using a bow with glass in it. I made a bow for a good friend of Mike and he happened to let him try it shortly after he got the bow. I guess Mike liked the bow enough that he told his friend Joe that he would like one like it. Here is what I made him to use for this Falls hunting season
The bow is a Bamboo backed Rosewood 60" long with limbs 1 1/8" wide that pulls about 55# @ 28". Joe sent me some fossilized Walrus tusks for me to use as tip overlays, they were a pain to make but after losing finger nails and skin I got around to shaping them. They are a bit bulkier than I care for and the shape of them made it hard to fit but all in all they look pretty darn neat. Here's some pictures

Now there's a bow! I love it and your experience shows in the tiller - no doubt. I'm sure Mike will take some meat with this one and am looking forward to the stories :).

Really nice as usual Marc, I sure Mike will put it to good use. The tip overlays are really unique.

Ya know Marc....I have a fiberglass bow too ;D
But seriously that is a sweet bow. I may have to look into a bit of rosewood soon after I finish this ipe one I am working on. I am insanely jealous of this doggone Wyoming ite. Life is good in Montana but that bow....man that bow/.......

Do you make a bow every day? And wow what a bow indeed! Great lines, sweet tiller (love that you pull em clear back for the tiller pics too) and unique choice of the rosewood. I can almost see the arrow buried behind the hog's shoulder.

Heya Marc!
I must say, this is very cool bow!
The profile is very graceful and the full draw is perfect! :)
May I ask?
What is the width at arrow pass? You say bow is 1.125" wide, so this maybe 1/2" wide, yes?
Btw, do you have closer picture of handle?

Beautiful bow Marc, Mike you better hide this one from the wife ;) or just order another from Marc right now :D
-
Very nice bow Marc!!! ;D :D
You are a lucky man Mick!! ;D ;D

Thanks guys.
Unfortunately I have heard that Brazillian Rosewood has been put on the endangered list and it is now impossible to buy it. I was lucky enough to buy a board of it just before this happened. It may still be possible to find some old stock though.
Alex. The bow is packed and ready for shipping and I am not unpacking it. I don't think it is 1/2" though, perhaps 5/8".
Here is a close up of the handle

Marc made the rosewood/boo backed bow that I will hunt with this fall. I fell in love with it the first arrow. Shoots so well that I could make kill shots from the first arrow. It will be perfect for the long horse back rides. It hardly weights anything and is fast and honest. Hawk told me the first time he shot it that it was the best bow he had ever shot. Well, he had a birthday coming up and Marc was willing to make a sister bow for Mike as well. He has drawn a bull elk tag in an area known for big horns so he and Red Hawk are going there the middle of next month. Cowboy made each of us three hunting points and I have made several so will be well geared up. I have two elk tags, two deer tags, and am going to Alberta for moose and bear. Wish some of you could be there with us to see what our hunting is really like. Thanks to Marc for the fantastic bows he makes and sorry to put him through the pain and effort to use walrus ivories for the nocks. Will make for great medicine! Watcher

Mark, thanks for the handle pics!
I can clearly see how the arrow pass is made, and so no need for specific measurements, thanks!
