New around here. Made this 'un today-my 40th point since I started on 6-30-08. It was a dollar chunk of Flint Ridge I got at Gastonia. Thanks Eric! Now, go easy on me....(http://www.fototime.com/3CA274729BA8628/standard.jpg)PD

Go easy on ya? come bustin' in here with a point that looks that good, and you want us to be easy? ;D ;) Welcome, and Iiii like it.
-
That is sweet. I can't wait to see what my 40th looks like. Oh, by the way, is that 40th completed or 40th attempted? I passed that "attempted" stat along time ago. Completed, another story. ;D
I could probably blame it on not having a really cool, professional looking pad like yours, but I won't. ::)

Welcome aboard, Pete. That's a nice point, looks great. I may have ran into you at the Schiele knapin, I met so many people there that I can't keep names straight. Had a great time down there, it's one of the better knap-ins.
-
Thanks, fellers. Yep, the Gastonia knap-in was/is cool. Looking forward to Flint Ridge, backing up the truck, to fill it up with flint. Here's the previous two points: my first attempt to get a match. When I hunt this fall, it will probably be with an Ishi style point-if my skill level comes up sufficiently to make a few by then. Come on, October! PD

Thanks guys. Onward to 8-7-08. Blew up some rock today before I mellowed in to some decent thinning flakes. Had a big Keokuk flake of nearly the right thickness, made into a preform fairly wide for the length. Went for this "style"....amateur, but effort was expended.....might make a decent knife. Ended up 1 3/4" w. x 2 9/16"l. Had to use a Dremel to un-stall these darn notches, so all apologies to the ABO contingent. You think that's what these types of blades were used for (knives, that is) ? Cheers-PD

Nice looking points. I love to knapp. I'm still still chasing those elusive thinning flakes though.
