Post by: catfishon on August 02, 2008, 07:56:39 pm
anyone tried pawpaws for arrows ?
i know it gets really hard when its dry, so i cut one today about arrow size to see what happens ?
seems to be pretty low in spine right now. i hope it gets alot stiffer when it dries also.

I've never tried it. Try hand straightening every few days as it dries. You may not have to straighten too much by then.   Pappy has a bunch of paw paw at Twin Oaks. We saw it in bloom this past spring.
Give us a report about the paw paw shaft.     Pat

Some shoots shouldn't be dried to quickly or they will check.    Pat

Jon , just make sure you leave the bark on til its dry or it probably will check and badly. It will gain stiffness as it dries.
